as sure as the winter snow the best time of the year is soon to be upon us and as such we run into our usual funding issues. the trail fund, as good as it is, is never enough to allow us the quality of trails that we have become accustomed to, therefore we are going to try a different tact this year and run our SUPER RAFFLE in the fall and give away the Harley Davidson Super Glide Custom at our annual Christmas party. we've already kicked off the raffle with a shindig at Recreational Parts and Accessories ( Rob "da king") store in Blasdell. sorry if you didn't get the free hotdogs though as theVillage of Blasdell wanted us to get a permit from them and the Erie County health Dept. before we could give them away! i imagine you probably need some kind of permit to set up a lemonade stand today. go figure! anyway we'll address these issues as we continue the raffle. the membership committee is sending out invoices for this years membership sign up early to avoid the rush and please please try to purchase the raffle tickets i managed to put in with membership material. we did manage to buy another class B groomer over the anti winter ( thats summer in case you're wondering) with the proceeds from last years raffle so as you can see this will do alot of good. we purchased the smaller machine with the intent of using it on the smaller trails and in conjunction with the bigger machines. our trails should be better than ever!! i did hear a rumor of a chicken BBQ to help sell our tickets. i'll have more on this as i get more info. if you and yours have any ideas about the raffle let me know at the first meeting of the season ( don't forget SEPTEMBER 2nd) at the Kof C in the Village of Hamburg or call me at 474-3572 or e mail at kim4snow@verizon.net any ideas are appreciated. speaking of groomers, the boston club is well on their way to buying a second groomer. this will definitely help their operations this year and should make many riders happy when they leave our trails. our hats off to them. there has been many rumors about the colden club lately, but the truth of the matter is after some internal difficulties they are definitely in business and will continue their usual trail maintenance duties to the East of us. all clubs have their ups and downs and this is just the normal ebb and flow of a volunteer oriented entity. i guess what it all comes down to is if you dont agree with the way our clubs are run be constructive and help out! see y'all at the SEPTEMBER 2nd meeting
